In the International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures, Cuba widely celebrates the World Day of Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development |

UNESCO, through its Regional Office for Culture in Latin America and the Caribbean based in Havana, Cuba, sponsors a comprehensive program of activities on the World Day of Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development, in close cooperation with the Ministry of Culture of Cuba, the Cuban National Commission for UNESCO (CNCU) and the Cuban Association of the United Nations (ACNU).
The program is extremely significant as it is implemented in the International Year for the Rapprochement of Cultures, announced today Fernando Brugman, Coordinator of the Culture Team and Head of Office a.i. in a press conference organized in the Regional Office, together with Juan Antonio Fernández, President of the Cuban National Commission for UNESCO (CNCU) and Alicia González, in charge of Culture at CNCU, Carlos Amat, President of the Cuban Association of the United Nations (ACNU), Roberto Gálvez, Adjunct Resident Coordinator of the United Nations, representing the Resident Coordinator of the United Nations in Cuba and Representative of the UNPD in Cuba, and Pedro Monzón, Head of the Division of International Affairs of the Ministry of Culture of Cuba (MINCULT).
In his remarks, Brugman also recalled that the World Day of Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development was proclaimed in 2001 by the United Nations General Assembly, after the adoption of the UNESCO Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity.
